This build by YouTuber ESO – Fallout & Elder Scrolls Guides is perfect when you start fresh in Fallout 76 and want your character to be strong in melee combat. Above you see the build how it looks like after level 10.

According to ESO the build is a solid foundation to go any way with it. If you want to go leveling from here he recommends investing in Strength and getting Expert Slugger and Master Slugger.

Points and cards up to level 10

As ESO says in the video, in the first perk card pack you receive you’ll always get Gladiator and for the next three levels you’re investing your points in Strength and choose Gladiator as perk card to rank it up to Rank 3. The result of this: Your one-handed melee weapoins now do +20% damage.

When you reach level 6 you’ll get the perk Slugger. ESO recommends that from now on whenever you find the Slugger perk card, you invest it into this and just get rid of the Gladiator perk card.

When reaching level 4 he recommends investing 1 point into Charisma and to get the Lone Wanderer perk card (especially when you’re playing solo).

After that you invest the next point in Agility and take the Action Boy/Action Girl perk card. You also want to maximize this perk card out as soon as possible.

Perception is pretty much useless for this build as you always have a 95% chance to hit in V.A.T.S. anyway so long as you’re in melee range. The perception perk cards also aren’t going to be useful to you especially early on. ESO suggest to go for the card Green Thumb instead (which you unlock at level 4).

Investing points in endurance is also not really worth it at a low level. After level 10 he recommends getting the Lifegiver perk card.

As for Intelligence you should max out the First Aid perk card. In his opinion you have a huge disadvantage if you don’t use this perk.

And finally Luck: At level 5 you get Serendipity which you can but in your build as a Rank 1 card.

Armor and weapons

ESO suggests crafting your own armor whenever you can and also collect legendary pieces from the different events in the game. If you want to be even more overpowered you can also get power armor.

The best weapon you can get in the game is firtly a machete at level 1. Once you have Slugger you can then swap to the fire axe which is, according to ESO, the best melee weapoin you can get between levels 5 and 15.

At lastly there are the throwing weapons. At the start of the game you can craft five throwing daggers at a weapon workbench for 15 steel and they do 75 damage per hit!

As good as this is Early game i dont realy like the idear of taking Perk card that you get to chose for a perk your not gonna use in the long run .. you get Tons of random perk cards already .. so why not get something you know you want when you get to chose exacly what you want.
But thats just my oppinion .. i did erlie game melee whit out the +% perk cards for melee weapons .. and it was not even close to been a problem.
I can see why people might think this is a good idear from a fast lvling perspective … but from my point of view you lose out on Garentiet Perk cards to get something your just gonna use temperarely … I just dont like that.

Agree never pick gladiator if you are not going 1 handed. First the first few levels i found a hunter rifle and a 44 or 45 revolver that destroys. I still mainly used Melee for sure until 6 and slugger there was no point in not just using whatever i found.

Still i might be guilty as well. I think Lead Belly is just so strong off the bat… This isn’t like the other FO where there is a ton of loot sitting around often someone has already taken much of it and also never before has Well fed and Satiated been so strong with the disease resist and Rejuvenated Perk.
Maybe i have been unlucky finding radaway however.

Why did you write your name (Author) as ESO when you are sharing HIS build?

At first I thought “why is this guy referring to himself in 3rd person??”
